shy
19 | --- | european |
5'6" | 130lbs | maze a |
male | homosexual | med-jack |
appearance
despite standing at a full five foot six, due to his constant slouching figure shy often seems shorter than he really is. he often seems uninterested in his tasks, a bored expression dominating the range of emotions that his pale face expresses. his hair is often unkempt and hurriedly pushed away from his face. his brown eyes are large and doe-like, often bright with intelligence or boredom. he's always slightly dirty, having dirt or mud smudged on his hands or face no matter how hard he tries to keep clean. his figure is slim and lean, deceptively small despite his ability to hold his own in many situations. he's typically found wearing a white shirt and dark tight pants with suspenders and worn work boots.
personality
shy, for lack of a better word, is lazy as hell. despite the fact that he does his job, and is damn good at it, he's often found slacking off in the woods sleeping, or watching clouds in a clearing. in his defense he claims he's smart enough not to have to get everything done at once, but this has gotten him in trouble quite a few times. though he never half-asses his duties making medicines and ointments he does take an exceptionally long time to finish them due to his frequent breaks and naps.
shy is very intelligent, knowing a lot of information but not entirely sure where the information came from. he's able to determine the serious nature of an injury with a small check up, and seems to know many natural remedies that can be found in the surrounding area. he's cautious when patching people up, and insistent when they need rest. some could say he's a bit paranoid about what could possibly happen, having made several remedies for things that couldn't really happen in the maze such as rabies and tetanus and such.
shy is...well....shy. he doesn't really like opening up to people and prefers to keep on general terms with others. he's not interested in building amazing friendships, and sees everyone as patients more than friends. though he is gay he has no interest in voicing the fact feeling as though it's not anyone's business but his own. he won't admit it out loud but he's actually quite nervous of the possible repercussions if people found out and felt uncomfortable, and what the others might be capable in severe cases of sudden nervous homophobia.
though a but unconventional due to how others see him, shy can be a bit of a troublemaker. he finds sneaking around and breaking minor rules exhilarating, and enjoys pulling non-invasive pranks on others. finding his humor mostly in never being accused of pulling said pranks he enjoys the wrestling matches that result from his efforts, and does sometimes wish he had a partner in crime to help him.
curiosity will eventually kill him. shy's satisfied with his position as med-jack, unable to see himself as anything else but he still wonders about the maze and what it looks like inside. sometimes he drives himself crazy wondering if he'd be better useful running the maze, but attempts to quickly dispel those thoughts in favor of the types of plants that can cure poison ivy. he's been caught during the morning and evening watching the runners enter the maze, and spacing off while staring at the wall. though he violently denies his curiosity, he still sometimes wonders.
shy, above all other things, is loyal. while he can tell that the gladers are truly split between what seems like two different leaders, gally and alby, he keeps quiet on his end. his loyalties lie with alby and newt, who he believes know what's really best for the group seeing as they've been there the longest. unafraid to question hastily made decisions he tries to prod any plans that he can see holes in, and even if it's unwanted he likes to leave his input.
history
shy could never remember more than a few weeks at a time when he was younger, before the maze. he remembered a nice woman who had a bright smile and smelled like flowers, and he remembered a jagged smile and claw-like hands. shy and his mother lived in a small community that was suspicious and closed off. they had built their homes in the trees and lived off of fruits and seeds that they could find in the forest, where the scorch hadn't quite destroyed and had easily regrown, though in a slightly pitiful state. shy's mother was unstable, having contracted and kept quite the flare that was slowly destroying her body. it warped her personality first, causing her to momentarily forget who she was and attack her son.
though the rest of the village awkwardly kept quiet, unwilling to cause conflict in their slowly working community, the flare spread rather quickly from shy's mother to the other homes. it became clear when shy's mother locked herself in her home, crying quietly and eventually bashing her own head in. sensing something seriously wrong with the town, shy slipped out in the middle of the night before the rest of the town could lose their minds in the same way. he wandered his way to another town that was rotten with the disease and avoided it entirely, hiding from the cranks moaning and singing. he eventually found refuge in a large walled town that allowed him in, housing him with another family that had a son.
he was distant from people and unable to recount what he had seen, becoming upset at insistent prodding and unresponsive to threats. he lived in a sort of daze for a while, until rounds were made with a strange appliance once the flare had gotten bad enough, to determine who was immune and who wasn't. though wicked was a new program and not widely known, no one was willing to defy a government sanctioned agency supposedly created to save humanity. shy was tested, and determined to be immune, and young enough to be taken into the program. with no actual family to say no, and the family he was fostered by unnerved with his quiet attitude, he was whisked away to WICKED with no explanation. he was a bit rebellious with the various tests they put him through, and troublemaker became his nickname. he was sent into the glade a year and a half after the initial group was sent up, and quickly found his place in the community.

♚ fieval couldn't help but feel they weren't making much progress. he felt like this route was awfully long, and repeatedly wondered how far away the next town was. he distracted himself by letting baby-boo walk next to him, watching her curiosity get the better of her more often than not. he smiled at how often they ended up stopping, letting her inspect a flower or a strange looking plant, or to gaze into the river where a water-type had caused ripples on the water.
she was enjoying herself, and that's all that really mattered to him. though he was a bit concerned at how scared she was at battling, fieval assumed that as long as he kept encouraging her, and especially if she won a battle, she'd gain a little more confidence and wouldn't be so frightened of other pokemon. she needed to level up too, before they reached the next town. her and spooky-boo both, otherwise going to town would be a bit of a waste, since they wouldn't be able to challenge the gym leader.
he lit a cigarette, wondering how winning a badge would feel. he knew that he'd let baby-boo get the first shot at it, and if they managed to win he'd absolutely let her hold what would be her new treasure. fondly, he knew she was the type to gain confidence by encouraged action and physical items of sentiment value, small trophies to remind her of her victories.
