 | Not much is known about Minho's past, except that like all of the other Gladers, he was presumedly educated and trained by WICKED before having his memories erased and being sent up to the Glade in the Box. He is one of the earliest and oldest Gladers. |

So being two original gladers and an ex-runner, I imagine these two are pretty close by this time, knowing each other very well. And despite a few differences in sass level and the occasional spit between the two of them, I'm fairly certain that they could get on very well.
I think Newt would definitely admire Minho's strength of character and his persistence and his confidence and would respect his input on matters. Though I can imagine there are times (When Newt's tired and stressed) that he's not really in a 'Minho mood'. But overall I definitely see them as close ;P
